Minimum and recommended requirements
Desktop specifications from Activision, checked 24 October 2026. Laptop variants need separate verification. An older model listed here is a reference point, not an instruction to buy that used component.
Minimum

What the publisher’s targets mean
Recommended / High
60 FPS in most situations, High; resolution not specified
Hardware is listed in the recommended box above. VRAM: 8 GB.
Competitive / Ultra 4K
Competitive / Ultra 4K; numeric FPS not specified
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X / Core i7-10700K
GPU: RX 9070 XT / RTX 4080 or RTX 5070
RAM: 16 GB · VRAM: 12 GB
The recommended profile does not state a resolution. Do not silently interpret it as a native 1080p, 1440p or 4K guarantee. Higher-profile wording also does not certify that every scene reaches your selected FPS.
Competitive play and Ultra 4K need different evidence
Black Ops 7 groups competitive and Ultra 4K hardware into a higher profile, while its recommended profile targets 60 FPS at High in most situations. The competitive wording does not specify a numeric FPS target. Treat 120 FPS in our tool as your requested goal, rather than a result certified by Activision.
For a high-refresh display, compare tests at your intended resolution and competitive settings. Look at the CPU, memory setup and slower frames, not just the GPU. For 4K image quality, seek 4K GPU measurements with the rendering mode stated. A low-resolution competitive test cannot establish native-4K performance.
Before buying a used tower, verify its firmware capabilities as well as its graphics card. A seller’s claim that a PC runs an older Call of Duty does not establish that it is configured for Black Ops 7. Ask for evidence of this title launching and running under the intended setup.
Choosing your display target
For 1080p, research a balanced CPU and GPU combination. For 1440p, compare graphics-card results at that resolution rather than scaling up a 1080p result. If you want 120 FPS or more, look at slower frames and CPU behaviour as well as average FPS. Record whether a test uses native rendering, upscaling or generated frames.
Build Finder’s Low, Medium, High and Ultra choices are editorial planning tiers, with ray tracing and frame generation off. Its FPS selector expresses your goal. It does not report a measured result or duplicate every publisher profile. Check exact motherboard, RAM, cooler, case and power connections before purchasing the proposed component families.
Storage and setup checks
Activision lists an SSD allocation of 116 GB at launch. Check the current launcher requirement before buying storage and leave room for the operating system and updates. Our 1 TB new-build starting point is a whole-PC planning choice, not a revised game minimum.
TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required for this title. Check support and configuration using Activision’s security guidance and your PC manufacturer’s instructions. A component-family list does not verify firmware settings. Do not make blind firmware changes; understand recovery requirements first.
DirectX 12 compatibility and broadband are part of the publisher specifications. Check the current Windows and driver guidance on the linked support page. For Intel Arc hardware, verify title-specific requirements and platform configuration rather than assuming every listing applies to every Arc card.
Investigating stutters or uneven performance
- Record the mode, resolution, rendering settings and exact hardware. Repeat a comparable gameplay section before changing anything.
- Separate low rendering performance from connection symptoms. A position correction or delayed online response alone does not identify a GPU problem.
- Lower rendering resolution while keeping other settings consistent. If performance changes substantially, investigate GPU load; if it does not, investigate other limits rather than automatically buying a CPU.
- Check free SSD space, background downloads, memory pressure and temperatures. Follow the publisher’s current troubleshooting and driver advice for this title.
- Compare frame-time spikes and slower frames, not just a single average. Change one variable at a time and keep notes.
Before buying an upgrade
Write down your full CPU and GPU model, RAM configuration and power-supply model. A processor upgrade can require a new motherboard or memory; a graphics-card upgrade can require different connectors or more clearance. Price the complete change and compare recent independent tests of this exact release.
Common question
Will a PC that runs Black Ops 6 automatically run Black Ops 7?
Do not assume so. Check this title’s requirements, firmware security settings and a recent test of the exact PC.
