The Sims 4: PC requirements & hardware guide

Test your household and content library.

Test your household and content library. Use the source notes and the tests below to research the PC you need.

Published requirements and known gaps

The boxes show the requirements recorded in our source-linked catalogue. Missing fields remain unspecified; a broad hardware family or an API description is not an exact model recommendation.

Minimum

CPUCore i3-3220 / Ryzen 3 1200
GPUGeForce 6600 / Radeon X1300 / Intel GMA X4500, Shader Model 3
RAM4 GB

Recommended

CPUIntel Core i5 quad-core / Ryzen 5
GPUGTX 650 / Radeon HD 7750, 1GB VRAM
RAM8 GB
Important context: Base game; substantial expansion/mod libraries require more disk and RAM.

Build estimate not assessed. This page helps you research requirements and hardware. A game-specific Build Finder recommendation is not available yet; published minimums alone do not establish an FPS prediction.

Test your household and content library

Compare the same household, lot and installed expansions. Record mods and custom content before investigating simulation or rendering problems.

Keep the simulation setup fixed

Record the save, scene complexity and display setup. Compare rendered FPS separately from the simulation’s progress or behaviour. A lower resolution may change graphics load without resolving a different simulation limitation.

A repeatable comparison

  1. Record the exact game version, CPU, GPU, memory configuration and settings.
  2. Use the same save, scene or activity where practical; note anything that cannot be held constant.
  3. Change one setting or rendering resolution, then compare sustained performance and pauses separately.
  4. Check temperatures, memory pressure and background work before attributing a problem to one part.

Storage and setup

The catalogue space guide is 26 GB. Treat it as an installation-planning reference, not a total PC drive size or a measured current download. Small installations may be rounded up in the catalogue. Check the publisher notes and launcher for exact content, updates and additional space.

Check the game’s current operating-system and platform requirements directly. Historical game specifications may name Windows versions that are no longer supported by the distribution client. A specification for one edition, branch or platform does not certify another.

Before paying for a PC or upgrade

The base-game specification is not a guarantee for every expansion and mod collection. Check actual drive use and back up saves before changing content.

Ask for the full processor and graphics-card models, RAM stick configuration, available installation-drive space and power-supply model. Price any motherboard, memory, cooling or power changes needed for an upgrade. Similar product-family names and equal VRAM capacities do not establish equal performance.

Use our requirements and benchmark checklist to assess evidence, and our first gaming PC guide to budget for the complete setup. No hands-on benchmark results or guaranteed FPS figures are claimed.
