Rust: PC requirements & hardware guide

Published requirements and known gaps

The boxes show the requirements recorded in our source-linked catalogue. Missing fields remain unspecified; a broad hardware family or an API description is not an exact model recommendation.

Important context: SSD required for recommended tier; server demands vary. Build Finder editorial planning profile added 24 October 2026; no measured FPS is claimed.

Publisher profiles and planning scope

Recommended hardware: The linked requirements listing does not attach a numeric FPS / resolution / preset target to this hardware profile.
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X / Core i7-6700K · GPU: RX 6600 XT / RTX 3060 / Arc B580 · RAM: 16 GB

Server, population and established bases can change the workload. The chosen CPU floors add editorial headroom; no server-wide FPS guarantee is made. These preset, resolution and 120 FPS tier steps are editorial allowances in a limited component pool, not measured benchmarks, performance equivalence or guaranteed FPS.

Test an established server and base

Record the map, server population, nearby structures and time since the wipe. A fresh empty server is a different comparison from your regular base area.

Your world is part of the workload

Record the save, server, mods and hosting role alongside resolution and quality. For 1080p versus 1440p, compare the same world conditions. A new-world recording and a developed multiplayer settlement should not be treated as equivalent tests.

A repeatable comparison

  1. Record the exact game version, CPU, GPU, memory configuration and settings.
  2. Use the same save, scene or activity where practical; note anything that cannot be held constant.
  3. Change one setting or rendering resolution, then compare sustained performance and pauses separately.
  4. Check temperatures, memory pressure and background work before attributing a problem to one part.

Storage and setup

The catalogue space guide is 45 GB. Treat it as an installation-planning reference, not a total PC drive size or a measured current download. Small installations may be rounded up in the catalogue. Check the publisher notes and launcher for exact content, updates and additional space.

Check the game’s current operating-system and platform requirements directly. Historical game specifications may name Windows versions that are no longer supported by the distribution client. A specification for one edition, branch or platform does not certify another.

Before paying for a PC or upgrade

Check SSD space and memory pressure on the actual server workload. Avoid buying solely from a quiet-coast recording.

Ask for the full processor and graphics-card models, RAM stick configuration, available installation-drive space and power-supply model. Price any motherboard, memory, cooling or power changes needed for an upgrade. Similar product-family names and equal VRAM capacities do not establish equal performance.

Use our requirements and benchmark checklist to assess evidence, and our first gaming PC guide to budget for the complete setup. No hands-on benchmark results or guaranteed FPS figures are claimed.
